BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Birmingham police are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was found dead in Ensley on Wednesday morning.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, officers responded to a person down call after 6:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Avenue F. At the scene, police saw a man lying unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel pronounced the man dead.
The BPD stated its preliminary investigation shows the Jefferson County Coroner's Office came to the scene. The office later concluded the man was shot. The victim has yet to be publicly identified.
There is no one in custody in connection to the shooting. Those with information on the case are urged to call the BPD at 205-254-1764 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777. Crime Stoppers may award tipsters up to $5,000.
