Tonight: While the drier air continues, another comfortable night is in store with low temperatures dropping into the middle to upper 60s. Skies will remain clear.

Sunday: We begin to notice the warming trend settling in as high temperatures run for the lower to middle 90s under another completely sunny sky. It won’t be unbearably humid, so this will keep heat index values below 100°.

Next Week: A strong ridge of high pressure will dominate our forecast over the next several days as it builds nearly directly overhead by the middle of this week. A steady warming trend from now through Wednesday brings many of us to hitting that century mark by midweek. A few of our locally warmer spots will reach 100° for possible two or three days in a row. Since the drier air will remain in place through at least Thursday, this will prevent our heat index values from reaching 105° or hotter which is what we’ve seen many times this Summer.

The good news is the heat will feel like a drier heat and we’ll already be gradually cooling off starting on Thursday. However, the air temperatures will still be quite hot, reaching the middle to upper 90s through the start of the upcoming weekend with a noticeable increase in muggier later this week. This is when a cold front will attempt to move south on Sunday, and it may contain just enough moisture to bring us a few showers on Saturday. Questions remain on the rain chances during this period, so we are going to keep them low for now.
