BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The UAB men's soccer program announced its 2024 schedule Wednesday as it heads into its first season under head coach David Lilly.
The Blazers will compete in three exhibition matches before hosting two-time national champion North Carolina to kick off the regular season Aug. 22. They will also welcome Georgia State on Aug. 27 and Northern Kentucky on Sept. 1 to PNC Field.
UAB will start American Athletic Conference play versus Florida Atlantic in Birmingham on Sept. 21. The Green and White will hit the road for a nonconference affair against Louisville on Sept. 24.
"We are excited to announce our 2024 schedule." Lilly said in a statement. "We look forward to playing a tough non-conference schedule to help prepare us for the challenges ahead in the AAC."
Lilly comes to the Magic City after spending the last two campaigns in the same position at East Tennessee State. The Buccaneers completed a first-place finish in the Southern Conference last season. They led the conference with 1.47 goals per game and 0.755 goals against average, the latter of which ranked 10th nationally.
UAB went 0-11-4 overall and 0-7-1 against conference opponents in 2023. The 2024 slate marks the third season the men's soccer program will compete in the AAC.
