BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- A 24-year-old suspect in a shooting in Birmingham has been charged with murder.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, Kishande Huckabee, of Birmingham, was taken into custody following the fatal shooting of Renard West on July 5. West was found shot to death in front of a home on the 1000 block of Cotton Avenue around 4:40 a.m.
People in the community gave Birmingham police a clothing description of a suspect in the shooting. Officers found a man matching the description walking in the area. Police then took the suspect, Huckabee, into custody, who possessed a handgun.
Detectives later obtained a murder warrant for Huckabee. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond at this time.
