Monday: High temperatures will reach the middle 90s with partly cloudy skies. An isolated shower is possible during the afternoon across eastern Alabama. Otherwise, nearly everyone stays dry and hot as heat index values climb to 100-105°.
Looking Ahead: Quiet weather will be our theme this week as Hurricane Debby tracks to our southeast across north Florida, south Georgia, and eventually the Carolinas later this week. As it briefly becomes a hurricane before moving ashore in the Big Bend of Florida early Monday morning, it will then quickly weaken. This forecast track keeps winds coming out of the northerly direction all week, keeping the most muggy air with Debby. However, sinking air and higher pressure on the backside will lead to clear and hot weather regardless of northerly flow being present.
Heat index values will climb to 100-105° on Tuesday and Wednesday. This is also when high temperatures will get into the upper 90s for many folks, so we need to be aware of the heat cranking back up for just a few days. An approaching cold front mid-week should help cool us down a little bit. Low confidence on the exact track of Debby later this week as the system slows down to a near stall over the Southeast, but we are fairly confident in this system staying east of Alabama. Stay tuned this week for updates on that part of the forecast.
