BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Criminal charges are pending for a person who allegedly attempted to flee the scene of an accident in Birmingham.
At around 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency trooper noticed a two-vehicle crash blocking the roadway near the 1700 Block of Tallapoosa Street.
While the trooper was investigating, one of the drivers involved in the crash attempted to take control of a patrol vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody by the trooper shortly after, and both were transported to UAB Hospital for evaluation.
Birmingham Police Department officers also responded to the scene and assisted with the incident. No further information is available as investigations continue.
