FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WIAT) -- Former Alabama defensive lineman Christian Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots over the weekend, according to the New England Patriots.
In a statement, the Patriots disclosed Barmore was tested, evaluated and treated by doctors at Mass General Brigham. The franchise stated there is no timetable for Barmore's return to the field.

Barmore was with the Crimson Tide from 2018-20. The Philadelphia native was named first-team All-SEC and third-team All-America by the Associated Press for the 2020 season. He earned the accolade of Defensive Most Valuable Player in the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Ohio State.
The Patriots selected Barmore with the No. 38 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. In 44 games with the club, Barmore has started 11 contests, registered 12.5 sacks, made one forced fumble and recorded 18 tackles for loss.
