Roanoke man sentenced to 19 years in federal prison on drug charges

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) -- A federal judge sentenced a Roanoke man to serve 19 years in prison for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

On Oct. 28, 2024, 41-year-old Clifford Lane Brown pleaded guilty to possession of more than 50 grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. He was ordered to serve 228 months, or 19 years, in prison by a federal judge yesterday.

A deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office discovered Brown in possession of 76 grams of methamphetamine, as well as marijuana and an illegal firearm, on June 3, 2021.

The judge ordered five years of supervision of Brown following his release. There is no parole in the federal system.
