Heavy rain and storms on Wednesday, Record warm possible Thursday through Saturday

Unseasonably warm temperatures with possible record highs this week.

Tonight: a cold front will sit along the AL/TN border. This will make it mostly cloudy with a few showers. It will be cool with lows in the lower to middle 50s.

The front will remain stalled across northern Alabama on Wednesday. We will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms along and north of I-20. A few storms could be strong across North Alabama with gusty winds and heavy rain. High temperatures will be in the lower to middle 70s. The record high is 76 (1927).

The front will lift north as a warm front on Thursday setting off a few showers with a sun/cloud mix. It will remain mild with record highs in the middle to upper 70s. The record is 77 (2019).

Another cold front will move into Alabama on Friday setting off stray showers. It will be mostly cloudy and mild with near-record highs in the middle 70s. The record is 79 (2019).

Weekend Outlook: The cold front will lift north as a warm front making it warmer and more humid. We will also have some sprinkles. Expect near-record highs in the upper 70s. The record is 83 (1918). A stronger cold front will move into Alabama on Sunday with spotty showers. Temperatures will peak early in the day in the middle 60s, and they will fall into the 50s during the afternoon. Then it turns cooler and stays wet with more seasonal temperatures in the 50s on Monday.
