COLUMBIANA, Ala. (WIAT) - A man has been arrested following a shooting that happened over the weekend in Shelby County.
Casey Deandre Smith, 22, of Birmingham, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and first-degree domestic violence assault following a shooting that happened Sunday afternoon in the 200 block of Shoal Run Trail, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a man who had been shot in the torso. The victim was subsequently taken to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. He remains in stable condition.
Shortly after the shooting, deputies detained Smith at nearby location. According to investigators, the shooting is believed to be domestic in nature, though no other details have been released.
Smith is being held at the Shelby County Jail without bond.
