BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Two arrests have been made following a fatal stabbing that occurred in Birmingham on New Year's Eve.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, 68-year-old Earnest Paul Christion Jr. was found stabbed in a home in the 2500 block of 15th Street Ensley. He was taken to UAB Hospital, where he later died.
Detectives with the BPD obtained arrest warrants for two suspects in connection to Christion's death. The BPD stated the suspects, identified as Zingy Gamble and La Verne Gamble, were identified through the help of community members.
Zingy and La Verne Gamble are mother and son. According to the BPD, Christion was Zingy Gamble's boyfriend. Detectives believe that Zingy Gamble stabbed Christion, possibly during a dispute over money.
The Jefferson County Magistrate's Office issued a warrant for murder on Zingy Gamble and a warrant for first-degree hindering prosecution on La Verne Gamble.
Both suspects were arrested, and they are being held in the Jefferson County Jail. Zingy Gamble has no bond, and La Verne Gamble has a $15,000 bond.
