TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Alabama Department of Transportation is planning to repair 15 bridge decks and install new guardrail on I-20/59 westbound in Tuscaloosa County.
According to the ALDOT, the project will take place from milepost 64 to near Exit 71. Lane closures are expected to start Monday and continue until the summer.
The ALDOT stated the contractor must always have one lane open and not to have a lane closure extend for more two miles. Comanche Construction was awarded the project at $4.59 million.
The contractor has mostly finished a similar project on the eastbound side of the interstate. The contractor is planning to spend about two weeks on the eastbound side in 2025 completing the final bridge deck.
