BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The city of Birmingham announced that Jimmie Hale Mission will have its warming station open from Monday through Thursday with temperatures expected to fall below freezing.
The shelter on 3420 Second Ave. North will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. on those dates. Those using the warming station will be provided food.
Free shuttle service will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the mobility challenged and people without transportation. The shuttle will pick people up at the main entrance of Linn Park. There will be return transportation each morning.
Jimmie Hale Mission is requesting people to donate the following items to support those in need:
- Twin-sized washable blankets
- Oranges and bananas
- Paper plates, napkins and plastic flatware
- Soft breakfast bars and snacks
Pathways will be providing shelter for women and children Monday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
