CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- A Piedmont woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Calhoun County Tuesday night, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Cathy L. Stants, 53, was killed when the GMC Envoy she was driving left the roadway, striking an embankment and multiple trees. Stants was not using a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. on U.S. 278 near the 151 mile marker, about four miles west of Piedmont.
Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are investigating the scene.
