FAYETTE, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Fayette County coroner is providing details about the crash that killed two family members as law enforcement continues to search for missing 1-year-old Kahleb Rowan Collins.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's crash report, Wendy Bailey, Steven Collins and their 2-year-old daughter, Ryleigh Collins, were headed north on County Road 73 when their vehicle left the road and hit a tree around 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 8. A crash data retrieval report found that Steven Collins' was driving aggressively at 92 miles per hour. The speed limit on the road is 45 miles per hour.
"I have two brothers who live in that area on that same highway," said Fayette County resident Robert Fisher. "It's just tragic to be that close to home."
Fayette County Coroner Timothy Kimbrell said when he arrived, the parents were receiving medical care. EMS crews were getting the 2-year-old out of the car.
"The best that we can tell she was not in a car seat, or she wasn't restrained," Kimbrell said. "She was in the back seat."
Kimbrell said while external injuries appeared minimal, they were fatal. Ryleigh Collins was pronounced dead about 30 minutes after the crash. Steven Collins died from his injuries at UAB Hospital on Dec. 9.
"One thing I cannot stress enough is parents, please put your children and restrain them in your car seat," Kimbrell said.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office said that crash is how law enforcement discovered the family had another child. Kahleb Collins was reportedly last seen Sept. 4.
"It's something you don't want to hear, especially this time of year with Christmas and everything," Fisher said. "It's just real tragic."
Family members said Wendy Bailey is at UAB Hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, the FCSO and two other agencies are searching for her 1-year-old son.
