FAYETTE COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing 1-year-old boy after his father and a 2-year-old girl were killed in a crash last week.
The FCSO stated in a Monday news release it assisted the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency at a crash scene on Fayette County 73 near the Glen Allan community Dec. 8. According to the ALEA, the 2-year-old girl was unrestrained in the Toyota Tacoma that crashed. She died at the scene. The FCSO identified the 2-year-old girl as Ryleigh Collins.
Steven Collins, a 40-year-old from Jasper, was reportedly not wearing a seat belt when the crash happened. He was ejected from the Tacoma and transported to UAB Hospital. Steven Collins died Dec. 9.
Wendy Bailey, a 22-year-old passenger in the vehicle who resides in Jasper, is in critical condition. The ALEA stated she was airlifted to UAB Hospital.
According to the FCSO, law enforcement learned Dec. 9 that Steven Collins and Bailey had another child that was unaccounted for. That child is 1-year-old Kahleb Rowan Collins. The FCSO and Alabama State Bureau of Investigation are handling the case.
