GARDENDALE, Ala. (WIAT) -- An 85-year-old Sumiton man died in a single vehicle crash in Gardendale Thursday morning.
Phillip Don Ellis was a passenger in a car that left the roadway and collided with tree off of Sardis Road at Mount Olive Road around 10:37 am, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. Ellis was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash around 11:30 am.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash at this time.
