BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Nearly two months after going missing at Cheaha State Park, hiker Vendula Rose has still not been found.

Rose, A Czech native who had briefly lived in the Birmingham area for a couple of years, had travelled from her home in Marysville, Ohio on Sept. 20 to go hiking in Alabama. By Sept. 24, she had made her way to the state park.

According to the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office, Rose's car was found abandoned at start of the Pinhoti Trail Head.

"There are no updates," said Rose's daughter, Dana, in a text message to CBS 42 Wednesday. "The search is still ongoing."

Officials with the CCSO said there have been no developments in the case, although they are still looking at any leads they can find.

Rose, who often went by "Wendy," first came to America from her home in the Czech Republic in 2001 and worked a variety of jobs, from working security at Walmart to a car mechanic to operating her own horse farm. However, hiking and being outdoors remains her passion.

“She always talked about living in a cabin, waking up with the sun behind the hills in the morning,” Dana said in an interview with CBS 42 Oct. 10.

Rose's family continues to hold out hope that she will be found.

“We’re really hoping she just walks out of those woods, wondering what the big deal is,” Dana said at the time.

Anyone with information on where Wendy Rose could be is encouraged to call Investigator Sims at the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office at 256-463-2277 ext. 110. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call 256-463-2277 and dial “Option 4.”
