ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Though the "Rick & Bubba Show" is ending in December, Bill "Bubba" Bussey plans to entertain listeners through a podcast that will start in 2025.

According to a Wednesday press release, "Bubba on the Lake" is the name of the new podcast. It is expected to feature the same type of commentary, anecdotes and reflections from the "Rick & Bubba Show." Fans, however, can expect Bussey to be more unscripted with the conversations, stories and laughs that helped his popularity rise.

“It’s time to grab your floaties and join me on the lake,” Bubba said in a statement. “I’ve had the privilege of being part of the Rick and Bubba family for over three decades, and while that chapter is coming to a close, the fun and laughter aren't going anywhere. I’m excited to bring back the kind of unfiltered humor and real talk that so many people have enjoyed over the years, only now, it’s on my own terms, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone."

The debut date and episode formats for "Bubba on the Lake" have not been revealed yet.

The "Rick & Bubba Show," which features Bussey and co-star Rick Burgess, debuted in 1994 and is produced by WZZK in Birmingham. It was announced in August that Bussey accepted a job offer at Jacksonville State University to be its assistant athletic director for broadcasting. Burgess is expected to start the "Rick Burgess Show" on Jan. 6.
