JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- A 20-year-old mother and her boyfriend are charged in Jefferson County in connection to the death of the mother's 4-year-old boy.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived at Children's of Alabama on Aug. 8 to investigate the death of a 4-year-old boy. Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office on Friday and received arrest warrants for the suspects.
Kayla Nash, the victim's mother, is charged with felony murder and aggravated child abuse. Nash is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail under no bond.
Nash's boyfriend, 20-year-old Jakobi Collins-Rogers, is facing a felony murder charge and two counts of aggravated child abuse. He is also being held under no bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
