COOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Two people were killed in a crash involving a Ford F-750 dump truck on Highway 280 Monday morning, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Sylacauga resident William Mathews, 65, was fatally injured when the Ford he was operating overturned, departed the road and hit a guardrail before falling down an embankment. Annette Mathews, a 64-year-old also from Sylacauga, was a passenger in the vehicle. The crash happened around 9 a.m. about two miles west of Kellyton.
William and Annette Mathews, who reportedly were not wearing seat belts, were pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers with the ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
