ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Etowah County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a 42-year-old man for theft of livestock Thursday.

Jonathan Ross, of Boaz, was charged with second-degree theft of property, according to ECSO. Investigators say they were notified of the incident after an owner of a horse reported their horse stolen.

"Theft of property, particularly livestock, is a serious matter. This type of crime not only causes financial loss but also disrupts the lives of our citizens who depend on these animals for recreation and companionship," said Sheriff Horton.

Ross was arrested and is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center with a bond of $2,500.
