2 teens arrested following pursuit in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Two teenagers were arrested Monday afternoon following a pursuit in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrived to the 5000 block of Myron Massey Road on reports of people with guns. When they arrived they found a suspect vehicle attempting to flee the scene. According to JCSO, they attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver vehicle refused to stop. The pursuit ended after the suspect vehicle hit another vehicle parked in a driveway.

The sheriff's office said four suspects then exited the vehicle and ran into a wooded area. Deputies captured two suspects following a foot pursuit, while two remain at large. A weapon was also recovered during the arrest.

A 14-year-old was arrested and charged with first-degree receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment, menacing, attempting to elude, certain persons forbidden and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. They are in custody of the Jefferson County Juvenile Detention Facility.

Another 14-year-old juvenile was charged with attempting to elude. They are also in custody of the Jefferson County Juvenile Detention Center.
