BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Southwest Airlines started nonstop service from Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport to Nashville International Airport on Sunday.
Southwest Airlines flight 1687 took off from Birmingham at 10:50 a.m., according to FlightAware data. The flight arrived at 11:36 a.m. at a Nashville gate. A flight from Nashville to Birmingham is scheduled to depart at 12:45 p.m.
Last month, Southwest added its Birmingham to Pheonix route. Also in October, Spirit Airlines commenced service from Birmingham to Fort Lauderdale. According to the Birmingham Airport Authority, passengers can access 21 nonstop destinations in 18 U.S. cities from the Birmingham airport.
