BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Renowned Birmingham photographer David Graves has released his highly anticipated coffee table book called "Alabama Faith."

It includes a collection showcasing stained glass windows of 75 churches across Alabama, offering a visual journey through the state's rich history, faith and artistry.

Graves joined CBS 42 Morning News on Sunday to talk about his new book. He said he was inspired by a memory from his childhood to do this.

“One time, we went to church and left the lights off, and that stained glass shining on the pews was just a core memory that made me want to capture that,” Graves said. “Once I got into photography and really wanted to capture this for other people to be inspired in their faith.”

Graves said he wants people to see hope and redemption that windows offer and the story that is behind them.

“Every church is different, and that beauty and that light shining on the pews is the story that after every generation, day after day, people can come in weary and tired without hope and leave renewed,” Graves said.

You can purchase a copy of the book on Amazon or meet Graves in person at Asbury United Methodist Church on Nov. 13 and at Smith’s Variety in Mountain Brook for an open house Nov. 21.
