2 arrested following near-fatal shooting at Tuscaloosa apartment complex

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Two people have been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting where a man was nearly left dead at an apartment complex in Tuscaloosa over the weekend.

Tanesha Thomas, 32, and David Waller III, 20, were both arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting that happened at the Creekwood Village Apartments early Sunday morning.

According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, a call came in at 3:30 a.m. Sunday from a man who reported to have been shot. Upon arrival, officers found the victim had been shot several times. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable but serious condition as of Monday.

Police report that that Thomas and Waller allegedly knew the victim and had had an ongoing issue between them that resulted in the shooting.

In addition to attempted murder, Waller was also charged with first-degree theft of property, first-degree receiving stolen property and breaking and entering of a vehicle. He is being held on $60,000 bond while Thomas is being held on $30,000 bond.

The shooting is under investigation.
