BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – On Saturday, Next Level Sports Camps is hosting a football camp for kids to learn skills that help them in their game and to reach the next level of confidence.
Carlie Shively and Marika Gray Taylor from MarCar Productions joined the CBS 42 Morning News Saturday morning to talk about the camp at Legion Field. They said these camps offer so much more than sharpening sports skills.
“We just really hope they walk away feeling filled with hope, feeling filled with confidence in their ability to do whatever it is they want to do, even if it ends up not being football,” Shively said. “To just tackle whatever it is they want to do in life to the best of their abilities.”
Last year, the kids who attended were teamed up with mentors that they were able to stay in contact with after the camp.
“We have a one-day camp with a 365 day impact,” Taylor said.
Camp registration began at 8 a.m. at Legion Field on Saturday. It runs through 2 p.m. and includes a free lunch and t-shirt. Boys and girls can attend.
Next Level Sports hosted a basketball camp two weeks ago and volleyball earlier in the year. There are plans for a baseball camp next year.
