2 arrested in connection to Birmingham homicide from June

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham Police Department announced the recent arrests of two men charged in a homicide that happened just over a month ago.

Derek Markel Bailey-King III, 23, and Fernandeiz Emillio Rapley Jr., 18, are charged with capital murder in the death of Brandon DeAndre Wilson.

On June 1, Wilson was found shot in the 500 block of 41st Street North. The 31-year-old was transported to UAB Hospital and later pronounced dead.

On June 27, BPD detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, which issued warrants for both men's arrests.

On July 3, Rapley Jr. was taken into custody at his residence in Midfield. During the arrest, detectives recovered a glock switch. On Monday, Bailey-King was taken into custody by BPD and the U.S. Marshals Service in the 100 Block of New Avenue in Bessemer.

Both suspects will be held in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
