HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — Mayor Patrick McClusky announced his retirement during a Homewood City Council meeting Monday night.
McClusky's resignation will be finalized on Nov. 1. This move marked the end of 16 years of serving the city, as he was a councilor for Ward 4 before being elected mayor in 2020.
Alex Wyatt will become the interim mayor on Nov. 1. Councilor Walter Jones will take over the role of city president until the next election in 2025.
McClusky says focusing on his family is a primary reason for his retirement. A recording of the announcement is available on the city's YouTube account.
