BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) -- An inmate at William Donaldson Correctional Facility was pronounced dead over the weekend.
James Clutts, 64, was serving a sentence for rape and sodomy convictions out of Madison County in 2007. On Aug. 14, he was transported to the hospital for continued treatment of multiple health issues, where he later died on Aug. 18, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
A postmortem examination will be performed to determine cause of death. The Alabama Department of Corrections is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
