Weather Aware: A Heat Advisory is in effect for Monday as heat index values climb into dangerous levels, making the air feel like 105-110° Monday afternoon and evening.
Monday: Highs will be in the middle 90s with mostly cloudy skies, and quite a few storms will be covering the area from 1-8 PM. Most of us should pick up some notable rain on Monday. As usual, a few locations will receive much heavier rainfall totals than surrounding areas. This is the nature of the beast in central Alabama during Summer.
Looking Ahead: Storm chances continue into Tuesday as a cold front associated with what will become the remnants of Beryl slides through the area. While no direct impacts are expected from this tropical system, a noticeable increase in humidity will occur on Tuesday as the cold front forces additional moisture to pull north off the Gulf of Mexico.
Rain chances begin to decrease heading into Wednesday with a few afternoon scattered storms still likely. However, these will be very spotty in coverage and are most likely during the earlier afternoon hours. Slightly less humid air and cooler temperatures are forecast to arrive behind the cold front for Wednesday and Thursday with a return to high temperatures in the upper 80s and overnight lows dropping into the upper 60s for some of us.
Storm Team 7 Day
Tracking the Tropics: Tropical Storm Beryl made landfall in Texas this morning as a Category 1 hurricane. This will bring rough surf, inland flooding, and very strong winds to southeast Texas before quickly weakening as it moves further inland. The current forecast track keeps the remnants of Beryl far to our west this week as it continues to move northward. Some slightly enhanced rain chances are in place today and Tuesday thanks to additional moisture from nearby Beryl, but we trend drier mid-week as the system lifts north.
