More humid weather returns on Wednesday, Storms are back on Friday

Wednesday: The old cold front will lift north of Birmingham, and this will make it more humid. We will be partly cloudy and hot with a few pop-up showers and storms. High temperatures will be in the lower 90s.

Thursday: Thursday will stay hot and humid. There will be a low chance for a pop-up shower/storm with a partly cloudy sky. Highs will be in the lower to middle 90s, and the heat index around 100 on Thursday.

Friday: More humid air returns on Friday. NW flow aloft will bring scattered showers and storms from north to south across Alabama. High temperatures will be in the middle 90s, and the heat index will be around 100°.

Weekend Outlook: The muggy weather will continue on Saturday ahead of a cold front. We will have scattered showers and storms with highs in the lower 90s, and the heat index will be around 100-105°. The cold front will move through on Sunday afternoon. It will be partly cloudy with a spotty showers and storms. Highs will be in the lower 90s. It will become less humid by Sunday night into Monday in the wake of the cold front.

Tracking the Tropics: Ernesto continues to strengthen as it moves across the northeast Caribbean near the Virgin Islands. It will track NW across Puerto Rico, and strengthen into a hurricane Wednesday morning. Ernesto will turn north as it rides along the western edge of high pressure in the central Atlantic. This system is expected to strengthen into a Category 2+ hurricane by Thursday and track toward Bermuda by Saturday. Then it will turn out to sea early next week.
