TALLADEGA, Ala. (WIAT) -- A man is dead after a shooting happened at a Talladega gas station Thursday.

According to Lt. Dennis McDaniel of the Talladega Police Department, officers responded to a call of a man shot at the Chevron station on Broadway Avenue on Thursday. At the scene, they discovered 24-year-old Marvin Darrius Smith Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds. Smith was taken to Citizen Baptist Medical Center's emergency room, where he died from his injuries.

The TPD's investigation revealed Smith had been involved in a physical confrontation with a 17-year-old juvenile inside the gas station's store before being shot. The investigation is ongoing.
