Tonight: A very comfortable August night is in store as low temperatures drop into the middle 60s with a few locations dipping into the lower 60s. Lower humidity will continue to filter in from the north, keeping us dry.
Sunday: With less humid air in place and higher pressure building in, temperatures will still manage to reach the lower 90s for many of us on Sunday afternoon. We will stay dry, so it will be another perfect day to get outdoors and enjoy this nicer weather while it lasts.
Looking Ahead: Unfortunately, the lower humidity will only stick around through the first half of our Monday before the muggier air builds back in. This will also arrive with a warming trend as winds switch back to the southerly direction, bringing warmer and more moist air for this new week. As a weak ridge stays to our west and attempts to creep in occasionally, high temperatures will slowly trend back into the middle 90s by midweek.
The ridge is expected to break down and creep just far enough west to introduce us to a few small chances for rain during the afternoon hours beginning on Wednesday. These continue through Friday, so it will feel more like summer in Alabama by later this week with your typical garden-variety afternoon storms dotting radar. Like usual, not everyone will receive rain so this is not going to improve the drier than normal conditions that continue across our region.
Tracking the Tropics: There is a small, unorganized tropical wave located in the south-central Atlantic, forecast to slowly gain strength as it tracks westward toward the northern Lesser Antilles. There is a 40% chance of development over the next seven days, so we have plenty of time to monitor the organization and track this week.
