DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) -- On Thursday morning, Washington County Sheriff's deputies and Washington County Fire and Rescue rushed to the scene of a house fire on Pine Log Road.
According to a release from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, during an investigation, it was discovered that 33-year-old Clint Sherman Elmore had intentionally set the fire inside the home and fled.
Elmore was found a short time later, walking down the road away from the burning home. He was arrested and charged with one count of arson and one count of aggravated child abuse.
The WCSO release says three unidentified juveniles were inside the home at the time of the fire but escaped the flames unharmed.
The Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations investigated the fire with assistance from the WCSO.
