MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Less than 100 days from Election Day, recent Emerson Polls show the gap between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris narrowing.

When asked, Alabama voters voiced a myriad of answers about what they want out of this election.

"When I go to the ballot box, I think it's going to be me going, 'Oh, uh... will any of this work'?" Alabama educator Susan Schwartz said.

"With this presidential election, there was a lot at stake from the beginning," Jasmine Reese of Alabaster said.

"This ... I don't know. This election is just so weird," said 22-year-old Garrett Wood.

Voters have different opinions on the presidential race. Wood said that aside from border security, transparency is the biggest issue for him.

"Even on either side, you never really know what you're truly voting for," said Wood. "You hear what everybody says, and then they come on and their campaign does something completely different when they're in office. So transparency is definitely the biggest one for me."

Reese said gun control is a major voting point for her alongside diversity, equity, and inclusion.

"The University of Alabama system took away all their diversity-inclusion departments last week," Reese said. "As a young citizen of the United States, as an African-American female, that's concerning for me."

Schwartz said her first election was in 1980. She said her priorities have changed when deciding who to vote for, as she's keen on someone who values the opinions of women and senior citizens.

"I want someone in office as President -- and in Congress serving me as a Congressperson -- who values a woman's opinion," said Schwartz. "And as an older woman, who values what my life is gonna be like for the next 20 years."

The general election will be held on Nov. 5.
