BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT)-- A Bessemer carjacking suspect was apprehended within an hour by police on March 4.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, Amani Jaunya Amos, 24, received a ride from an acquaintance in the 1800 block of Bessemer Road. Amos allegedly forced the female victim from the car, striking her while driving away and causing injuries.
BPD's robbery unit and Bessemer police collaborated to apprehend Amos and he was arrested less than an hour later at Dartmouth Avenue and 25th Street South. After presenting information on the case, robbery detectives obtained a warrant for 1st degree robbery and 2nd degree assault.
Amos is being held without bond in Jefferson County Jail.
