Monday: A bit hotter and more humid today. Scattered storms are likely today from I-65 and points east. West Alabama will only see isolated storms, but the heat index west of I-65 could climb above 105°. Some storms today could produce locally heavy rain. An isolated instance of flooding can't be ruled out, but we don't expect the same issues we saw yesterday.

Rest of the week: A ridge of high pressure will continue to remain centered just to our south and west through Tuesday, allowing for the continued chance of rain through Tuesday afternoon. This allows rain chances to drop for much of this week, with only a few isolated storms bubbling up in the heat of the day.

The ridge will start to build into the Deep South just enough later this week to also allow our temperatures to respond by warming back to above average values. Middle 90s return to the forecast for afternoon highs starting on Wednesday, with the hottest days being Thursday and Friday. As the very high humidity lingers through the week, this will allow heat index values to climb above 105° at times.
