BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Greater Birmingham Humane Society has provided an update on a dog that was placed in a garbage bag and dumped in Birmingham last month.
According to GBHS CEO Alison Black Cornelius, the dog, which they've named Patches, is still receiving treatment but it recovering well.
"He's not available for adoption, but he's doing so much better than he was a week ago. As you can see right here, he's a great dog. I really just want to say thank you so very much to all the people who came forward and called and tried to help find out what happened and what the back story was on how Patches ended up in that dumpster," Cornelius said.
Patches was found in a dumpster between 2nd and 3rd Avenue South and 18th and 19th Street South on February 19.
Cornelius added that someone has come forward in the case, but could not provide further details as Birmingham police continue to investigate.
