Tonight: Expect showers and storms to remain scattered this evening before dissipating shortly after sunset. This will leave us partly cloudy overnight and drying out with lows in the middle 70s.
Sunday: Most of us will begin the day dry before widespread showers and storms develop once again during the late morning/early afternoon, lasting off and on into the evening hours. It appears the coverage of rain will be a bit higher compared to Saturday, so any outdoor plans need a plan B.
Looking Ahead: The rest of our weekend continues to be stormy and this pattern carries into Monday. Numerous showers and storms should develop during the afternoon with slightly less coverage on Tuesday before most of this activity really begins to wind down for a few days. As a ridge of high pressure starts to slide to our south, then build over the Western US, it will keep our rain chances lower heading into the middle and end of this week.
There is some model discrepancy on exactly how strong the ridge attempts to build. If it stays weaker, then expect more pop-up afternoon storms each day this week. However, our current thinking is this ridge will remain close and strong enough to warrant hotter temperatures back into the middle 90s and perhaps a few afternoon storms on Wednesday and Friday. Thursday should be one of our drier and sunnier days this week.
