TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) -- A 31-year-old male pedestrian died after a vehicle struck him Friday night.
According to Cpt. Jack Kennedy with the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, Tuscaloosa officers responded around 10 p.m. Friday to near the intersection of Skyland Boulevard and Hargrove Road East. At the scene, they discovered a vehicle hit the man.
The victim was transported to a hospital but died. Kennedy stated witnesses told law enforcement the man was standing and walking in the road before the crash.
The 18-year-old driver of the vehicle that hit the victim remained on the scene. Kennedy mentioned because the driver said to law enforcement he used a controlled substance several hours before the crash, the TVCU assumed the investigation.
No arrests have been made in relation to the crash. Kennedy stated after all evidence is collected, it will be determined if any charges are appropriate in the case.
