Weather Aware for Wednesday-Thursday morning and Saturday-Saturday night
A series of cold and warm fronts will meander across Alabama this week. Heavy rain and strong to severe storms are possible during the Weather Aware days. We could pick up 3-5"+ of rain throughout the week leading to potential flooding issues.

Tonight: a cold front will track across Alabama with scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few storms could be strong with gusty winds. The rain can be heavy at times. Lows will be in the middle 50s.


On Wednesday, the rain will continue and become heavy during the afternoon as the Tuesday cold front moves north as a warm front. Upper-level waves will move along the front. This is where flooding concerns begin and continue into Thursday morning. A few storms could be strong to severe.


Tuesday evening will have more heavy rain and the strong to severe storm threat will increase as warmer and more humid air moves into Central Alabama.


SPC has placed Central Alabama in a Level 2/5 Slight Risk for a threat of damaging winds and a brief tornado or 2 during the afternoon and late evening. It will be mild and muggy with highs in the middle to upper 60s.


The rain ends by Thursday morning as another cold front moves across Alabama. It will become partly cloudy, breezy, and much cooler during the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s.

Valentine's Day, Friday will be a pleasant and cool day as high pressure sits north of Alabama. It will be mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the lower 60s.
Weekend Outlook: We will have a 2nd round of heavy rain and a threat of strong to severe storms Saturday night with a cold front. Most of the day will be mostly cloudy, breezy, mild, and humid with highs in the lower 70s. The strong to severe storms will arrive after 10 PM producing damaging winds and possibly tornadoes. An additional 1"+ of rain is forecast making flooding an issue again.

It will turn much colder and breezy with peaks of sun on Sunday. High temperatures will occur in the 50s in the morning and will fall to the 40s during the afternoon.
