LEEDS, Ala. (WIAT) -- Leeds is introducing a new pickleball facility intended to expand recreational opportunities in the community.
The Leeds Pickleball Centre is designed to cater to both casual and competitive pickleball players, aiming to establish Leeds as a location for active living and sports engagement.
The project will include 12 regulation-sized pickleball courts, providing space for tournaments, leagues and casual matches. The courts will feature high-quality surfaces, nets and black vinyl-coated fencing with gates.
Amenities will be housed in a 230' x 155' pre-engineered building that will be constructed by Milam & Company, LLC.
“Milam and Company has done some beautiful work in this area and we're certainly looking forward to breaking ground shortly," Leeds Mayor David Miller said in a statement. "This is going to be something the whole community can use from young folks to older folks, and I think this will be probably the biggest attraction in the city since we built the splash pad, so you that have been calling, here it is!”
The center aims to become a premier destination for pickleball enthusiasts in the region. Construction is planned to begin soon.
