ALABASTER, Ala. (WIAT) -- A 14-year-old boy is dead after Alabaster police responded to an ATV crash Sunday.
Shelby County Coroner Lina Evans said the crash occurred around 9:20 a.m. According to the Alabaster Police Department, officers were called to assist the Alabaster Fire Department at a scene in the 90 block of May View Court. They found a juvenile who was unconscious and being administered CPR.
The boy was transported to Shelby Baptist Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Evans identified the victim as Anderson Gutirres. Another juvenile was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Alabaster police stated the preliminary investigations show there was a single ATV collision.
"Our condolences and prayers are with the family during this time of tragedy," said Alabaster Police Chief Curtis Rigney in a statement. "We are also praying for the community, officers, paramedics, and others involved in this tragic incident."
Alabaster police are continuing their investigation into the crash.
