MARENGO COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- A Birmingham man is dead following a single-vehicle crash that occurred Friday in Marengo County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
James W. Evans, 54, was injured when the Ford F-150 pickup he was driving left the roadway, traveled across a private drive and became airborne before landing. He was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Evans was transported to Whitman Regional Hospital, where ALEA says he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
A second passenger in the vehicle was also injured and transported to Whitfield Regional Hospital.
The crash occurred on U.S. 80 near the 48 mile marker, approximately six miles west of Uniontown. Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
