BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- A major water main break in Ensley is disrupting water service for residents Wednesday.
Crews with Birmingham Water Works are assessing the situation and working to make repairs to the 24-inch water main near 1720 22nd Street. According to the Birmingham Water Works, crews isolated the leak and customers should start seeing water service restored and pressure returning as tanks recover.
The initial break impacted residents in the Tuxedo Junction area. In an update from Birmingham Water Works, it stated the impact should be limited to the Tuxedo Junction area and to Avenue J between 22nd Street and 30th Street. The BWW stated around noon that water service should be restored within six hours.
