BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- A few days from now in a music venue not so "far, far away," the Alabama Symphony Orchestra will put on a special performance to accompany one of the most popular film franchises in history.
On Friday, the ASO will put on the "Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert," featuring the orchestra performing the score to the first "Star Wars" film in its entirety, while the 1977 movie is playing in the background.
The soundtrack, originally composed by John Williams, signaled a new era in filmmaking, one featuring the cinematic phenomenon of the "space opera" and a franchise of films, TV shows, books and action figures that have built a multi-billion dollar empire.
The concert will be held Friday and Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. at the BJCC.
