BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute has multiple events planned leading up to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
On Saturday, the BCRI team is inviting those interested to register for the MLK Day 5K Drum Run. This event consists of a 5K run, a 10K run, a youth one-mile fun run and an adult one-mile fun run. More details, as well as a link to register for the race can be found here.
King Day Painting Classes with Studio 2500 will also be held on Saturday. Classes will be held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. in the BCRI commons room. This event will feature guided painting sessions with local artist Willie Williams, Jr.
On January 20, admission to the BCRI museum, as well as all featured activities will be free for MLK Day. Doors to the museum will open at 10 a.m. Walk-ups are welcome, but guests can also reserve their free entry tickets here.
