COOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) -- A Talladega woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Coosa County late Tuesday night, according to the Alabama Law Enforcment Agency.
Janice Bullard, 63, was killed when the car she was a passenger in struck a horse standing in the roadway. After the collision with the horse, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a large rock. Bullard was reportedly not using a seat belt at the time, and she died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, as well as a second passenger, were injured and taken to UAB Hospital for treatment. The crash occurred on U.S. 231 about eight miles south of Rockford around 11:40 p.m.
Troopers with the ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
