Tuesday: Cool and sunny through the day. Temperatures top out in the upper 40s and low 50s in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop below freezing again overnight tonight with lows in the mid to upper 20s.

This Week: Temperatures remain colder than average through midweek with morning lows in the 20s and afternoon highs in the 40s and 50s lasting into Thursday morning. Southerly winds return Thursday afternoon, letting us rise into the middle 50s as sunshine continues, likely becoming the pick-day of the week in terms of the most comfortable weather.

By Friday, a storm system will approach from our west, kicking up breezy conditions from the south at 10-15 mph with gusts over 20 mph likely, especially on Friday night into Saturday. Clouds will build into central Alabama starting Friday morning, but we’ll hold the best rain chances off until late Friday night into Saturday morning. This is when the cold front will push through, sparking up widespread rain showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder. No severe weather or winter weather is expected with this system. Rainfall totals should remain below 1.5".

The rain will clear out of here by Saturday afternoon/evening with clouds and perhaps a random rain shower lingering into Sunday morning. Our next blast of cold air will follow behind this front, making for a chilly start to next week. It appears the coldest air will arrive by the middle of next week, with the potential for afternoon highs to stay below freezing in some locations by mid-week next week.
